WASTE VALUES
HOW TO RECREATE VALUE FROM USED PLASTIC BAGS?

END PRODUCT : FEET HAMMOCK

WOVEN PLASTIC EXPERIMENTS
For the purpose of “It’s Your Waste” exhibition during 2015 Dutch Design Week, we dove
into the potential of plastic bags as a material. Many industrial processes,
like plastic, rely on the consumption of finite resources. Taking this into consideration,
upcycling is necessary to reduce waste and bring new and higher value. Built to last, plastic
is a strong material with specific properties such as solidity, elasticity and
flexibility. The “Waste Values“ project explores those properties by developing
plastic
woven fabrics. We designed a hammock to highlight and contextualize the potential
and preciousness of this new material.
